Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Honoring the Deceased

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
