Trump Organization Sought to Bring In Almost 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025

The former president’s family business increased its recruitment of overseas employees on short-term work permits this period, while his administration was placing obstacles for other companies wanting to do the same, a report published recently stated.

Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization aimed to bring in at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for short-term roles at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of requests for temporary work visas covering staff including waitstaff, office assistants, housekeepers, culinary employees and agricultural laborers was the highest ever submitted by the company, and increased from 121 in the previous term, when Trump’s first term concluded.

It was also the fifth time in 10 years that the former president had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on labor statistics.

The disclosure comes amid a tightening on immigration laws by his administration that has included the implementation of a $100,000 fee on H1-B visas; extra scrutiny of the activities of the 55 million people who possess American work permits; and tighter regulations for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the Trump Organization aimed to hire 566 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during the upcoming year.

Notably, Trump was criticized by certain in the Republican party this week for comments justifying the necessity for overseas employees when a company was unable to find people with “specific talents” to fill certain positions.

“You cannot just say a nation is entering, going to spend $10bn to construct a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that effectively,” he stated to a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the pay of American employees.

The White House declined a request for response, and the business did not provide an answer to an request for information.
